The post is designed specifically to facilitate the development of the Cardiac Imaging and Heart Failure services within the trust. At present transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography and DSE services are available, there is no Cardiac CT at the trust, but there are plans for upgrading the CT facilities within the next 12-18 months and it is envisaged this would include the development of cardiac CT. it would be envisaged that cardiac MRI would be introduced and the participation of the successful candidate in establishing this service would similarly be welcomed by Radiology. In the meantime if the successful candidate so wishes, opportunity to maintain skills at neighbouring Regional centres will be sought and supported.

You would be expected to participate in the care of general cardiology in-patients and out patients. The appointee will participate in a 1 week in 4 rotations on duty for the ward during which he or she would have responsibility for all cardiology in patients and referrals. During that week other activities would be curtailed. During the other 3 out of 4 weeks there would be more elective sessions, and the appointee would be expected to do general cardiology clinics in addition to specialist clinics or Imaging session as appropriate to their special interest.

In return you will receive a competitive salary including the opportunity for personal and professional development.

The ideal candidate for this post you will have experience and sound knowledge within Cardiology; candidates have the opportunity and potential to bring their own area of clinical sub specialty interest to add to the established acute service portfolio.
