Title of the Assignment : Climate and Nature Knowledge Management (KM) Specialist

Type: Consultancy Service Agreement

Work location: Remote

Submission deadline: 11 September 2026

1. Background

Naturescapes is an EU-funded project that supports decision-makers in understanding and applying Nature-based Solutions (NbS) at landscape scale. Its Functional Urban Area (FUA) framing and scorecard and the co-financing archetypes help assess NbS portfolios across climate, biodiversity, social justice, long-term sustainability, participation, synergies and trade-offs and sustainable finance opportunities. WWF's One Planet City Challenge (OPCC) and We Love Cities (WLC) provide an established platform to connect these tools with cities and amplify lessons through a global community of practice.

The technical assistance will focus on Mendoza (Argentina), the Swakop Basin (Namibia), and the Punjab region (Pakistan). Across the three cases, the common entry point is water security and climate adaptation, while activities and outputs will be tailored to local priorities, data, projects, and institutional arrangements. The work will support the delivery of technical assistance to local governments to strengthen the planning and implementation of Nature-based Solutions for climate adaptation, while generating practical lessons and evidence to inform policy advocacy, knowledge sharing and communications across Naturescapes and the wider WWF network.

2. Objective of the Assignment

The Climate and Nature KM Specialist will translate technical findings into accessible and compelling content, identify strategic engagement and dissemination opportunities, and amplify lessons from the three city-landscapes through OPCC, We Love Cities, WWF International, Naturescapes and relevant partner channels.

Priority audiences include relevant teams across the global WWF network—particularly those working on NbS, adaptation, water security, cities and landscape finance—and, through them, public, private and financial decision-makers who can support implementation, scaling, investment or integration into existing programs and financing mechanisms.
