USPS is a productive and fun place to work at
Rural Carrier Associate (Current Employee) –  Kingwood, TX11 October 2019
working at the USPS is an eye-opener. The mail process from beginning to end, i.e., from sorting, casing, and delivery to the customers at their homes is a new experience entirely.

No work life balance, treated bad. Bad management.
City Carrier Assistant (Current Employee) –  Houston, TX10 October 2019
One of the worst jobs I ever had. Management will do you so bad. They don’t believe in helping each other at this company. Forced to do whatever they please with no breaks. It was literally modern day slavery.

Not worth it
City Carrier Assistant (Current Employee) –  Greensboro, NC10 October 2019
I’m a CCA my office takes like 3 years to convert to regular which is way too long to be working 6 days a week for me. I do not like the inconsistency of not knowing where or what route I’m doing everyday. I actually do enjoy delivering and the independence. It’s nice being outside when the weather is nice but sucks when it’s not. It has the potential to be a good career if your office converts you quickly other wise you will be worked hard burned out.
Pros
Overtime, Independence, get a workout
Cons
Work life balance, inconsistency

Depends on the craft you choose
Custodial Maintenance (Current Employee) –  Southgate, MI10 October 2019
Depending on the craft you choose to work for, either Clerk, Carrier or Maintenance you experience will differ. Carrier jobs are more strict, clerk is customer oriented and maintenance is more laid back but you are expected to do your work.

Poor place to work
PTF Clerk (Former Employee) –  Bar Harbor/ Belfaft10 October 2019
Postal Postmasters treat their workers very poorly, like children and puppets.

They schedule their workers to a schedule that can be subject to change any minute so therefore even if you have a family event or appointment it is secondary.

All post offices have unsanitary working conditions because their post offices are very old, like asbestos.

Postmasters are their own judge and jury so people are getting fired for no reason!

RCA Rural Carrier Associate (Current Employee) –  Stoneville, NC10 October 2019
I just did not get enough hours and no benefits. I have to maintain my jeep; so if you do not have a good car then you will come out of pocket with the money.

POSTAL CLERK (Former Employee) –  Southport, IN10 October 2019
The benefits and work environment are very key bonuses to the job. Some of the politics behind the scenes make the job less enjoyable. Overall this is a great job

The Post Office is trying to compete with other companies, as far as parcels, and computers for mail/bills.
USPS Clerk (Current Employee) –  Tulsa, OK10 October 2019
With all of the allotted competition, the Post Office tends to forget that the employees are people. As a result, the positive attitude is often hard to maintain.
Pros
Salary, time off.
Cons
Hours (often sacrficing of personal time/holidays).
